ADD MILK, ALL AT ONCE, STIRRING TO COMBINE. ADD 1 1/2 CUPS CHEESE, COOK AND STIR UNTIL THICKENED AND BUBBLY. COOK 1 TO 2 MINUTES MORE, STIRRING CONTINUOUSLY, THEN REMOVE FROM HEAT. GREASE A 2-QUART CASSEROLE DISH, AND PLACE HALF OF THE POTATOES IN THE BOTTOM. COVER WITH HALF OF THE SAUCE, THEN REMAINING POTATOES, FOLLOWED BY REMAINING SAUCE. COVER AND BAKE 40 MINUTES. COMBINE REMAINING CHEDDAR, BREAD CRUMBS, AND PARMESAN. REMOVE COVER FROM CASSEROLE, TOP WITH CRUMB MIXTURE, AND BAKE 20 MINUTES MORE, OR UNTIL BROWN AND BUBBLY.
