Summer is here, which means you’ll need to start your day with a breakfast that can support an active lifestyle. After a 10 to 12 hour fast our bodies need the fuel to maintain vital functions and our brains need the fuel to think clearly. Here are five more reasons to start your day with breakfast!

  1. Athletes who skip breakfast train less effectively.
  2. It is extremely difficult to get all of your necessary daily nutrients without breakfast.
  3. Eating breakfast has been shown to increase concentration
  4. Eating a bigger meal in the morning and a smaller meal at night optimizes your daily energy levels.
  5. Breakfast restores sugar levels after up to 12 hours of not eating.

Yogurt is a nutritious and tasty way to start your day! Probiotics which are live cultures found in yogurt are known as “good bacteria”, and can help create a healthy digestive system and has other health benefits.

Yogurt is a good source of protein, which helps builds muscle, skin and helps us feel fuller, longer.

 3 Ways to a Sensational Summer Yogurt Bowl  

Yogurt breakfast bowls

Peanut Butter Banana Bowl

Prep: 5 minutes

Makes: 1 Serving

Ingredients:

  • 1 Banana, sliced
  • 1 ½ Tablespoons natural peanut butter
  • 1 Tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 Oikos Triple Zero Coconut Yogurt

Directions:

Pour yogurt into a bowl. Top yogurt with sliced bananas, chia seeds and drizzle peanut butter over top. Enjoy immediately.

Frozen Berry Granola Yogurt Bowl

Prep: 5 minutes

Makes: 1 Serving

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Green Way frozen berries (blueberries, raspberries, blackberries) *
  • 2 Tablespoons granola
  • 1 Oikos Triple Zero Strawberry yogurt

Directions:

Pour yogurt into a bowl. Top one side of yogurt with frozen berries, add granola to the other side and enjoy!

Strawberry Flax Yogurt Bowl

Prep: 5 minutes

Makes: 1 Serving

Ingredients:

  • 3 to 4 Fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 2 Tablespoons flaxseeds
  • ½ cup cornflakes
  • Oikos Triple Zero Blueberry yogurt

Directions:

Pour yogurt into a bowl. Top one side of yogurt with sliced strawberries, place cornflakes on other side, placed flaxseeds in the center and enjoy.
