Build a Better Burger
By Jacqueline Gomes, RD, MBA
Transforming a classic burger into a nutritious meal is easier than you think. Start with a lean protein base such as turkey, chicken, or plant-based patties. Opt for whole grain buns to increase fiber intake. Pile on fresh vegetables like spinach, tomatoes, and avocado for added vitamins and healthy fats. Instead of calorie-laden sauces, use Greek yogurt-based spreads like Tzatziki or hummus. Cheese lovers can choose low-fat options.
Finally, consider grilling instead of frying to reduce unhealthy fats. By making these simple swaps, you can enjoy a delicious burger that’s both satisfying and good for your health.
